Your Life Is Written In A Book
Updated: Sep 30, 2023

The American Dream...what we spend our lives trying to achieve. Fame, fortune, success, and love. All the things we strive to create hoping that we live the life of our dreams. Then we find our lives going in a direction we never planned. Bankruptcy, divorce, sickness and disease robbing us of that perfect life we created...in a moment it can be gone.
What if I told you there is a book in heaven with your name on it? That God had a plan for your life before you were born. Let'a take a journey together and dream with the heart of God to see his intended plan for his creation.
Jeremiah 1:5 - Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.
What a call of God on a young man. Jeremiah goes on to argue with God about being unable to do what he is called to do. Jeremiah says "Ah, Lord God! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am youth."
God begins to speak to Jeremiah that although he has it in his mind he is unable to do this God reveals destiny to Jeremiah. "But he said to me, "Do not say, I am only a young man; because everywhere I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak".
Jeremiah at that point had to make a decision to follow the heart and plan of God for his life or to go his own way. Jeremiah could have rejected the call of God for his life. We all have the choice to go our own way. The plan of God is a drawing by his Spirit to led you on the path to His destiny for you. It is a discovery that takes place over our life as we yield to the heart of God. The bible tells us that God is a good Father and all good things come from Him. We also live in a fallen world and we face things that can be a challenge for us to overcome. However, when we submit our lives to the plan of God we are over-comers in this life.
So how can you know the plan of God?
Psalm 139:16 says You saw me before I was born. Everyday of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.
Let that sink in. Everyday of your life was already recorded. Why do we miss it? Because we fail to recognize the author and finisher of our faith. We fail to recognize our lives have a purpose and our goal should be to find the heart of God in our lives not what we desire ourselves. When we find His plan and His purpose for our lives and continually seek His direction we do not have to be concerned about our lives falling apart. Your life was mapped out and penned by God before you were born.
Psalm 40:6 says: Behold, I come; In the scroll of the book it is written of me. I delight to do your will O My God, and your law is written within my heart.
How do we see the plan and purpose of God? God reveals his will to us in three ways. The first way that God reveals his plan and his will for our life is through:
1. THE WORD OF GOD (BIBLE) - The bible is called God's love letter to his children. God weaved into the pages of that book his plan and purpose for your life. As you read that word he begins to bring to light His purpose. Scriptures make it perfectly clear that there is a plan in the heart of God for his creation.

Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you", declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future".
Psalm 119:05 - Your word is a lamp for my feet, and light on my path.
Psalm 119:18 - Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law.
2. PRAYER - Prayer is the place of the great exchange. Our prayer life is a place we can hear from God and connect to His heart. Prayer is a conversation with God and he longs to speak mysteries to your heart. In prayer God will reveal His plan for your life.

Psalm 40:6 (PT) - It's not sacrificing that really moves your heart. Burnt offerings, sin offerings, that's not what brings You joy. But, when you open my eyes and speak deeply to me, I become your willing servant.
3. PROPHETIC WORDS - 1 Corinthians 12:4 reveals the gifts of the Spirit and how they operate through the lives of believers. God can and will often use prophecy as a way to confirm what he has already laid on your heart. God uses prophesy as a weapon in the arsenal of the believer to help wage a good warfare.
1 Timothy 1:18 - This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare.
God is sovereign, but according to some popular Christianity beliefs some believe that no matter what you do you will be saved and will accomplish God's plan. That nothing can stop the plan of God in your life. That is simply not true. Through sin and unbelief you can abort the plan of God in your life. You can miss the plan of God but thank God that through repentance you can get back on track if you have missed it.
If you are finding yourself uncertain about your future and needing direction in your life you are not alone and you can access through faith the promises of God for your life. You can have a life full of the presence and power of God and experience that abundant life you are so desperately seeking for. Say this prayer with me:
Lord, I place you in remembrance of what You wrote about me in my book of destiny. I thank you that I was planned and created with a divine purpose recorded in my book of destiny. Lord, I am asking that there would be a fulfillment of all that is written in my book. Reveal your heart to me Father, reveal your plan to me through your word. Reveal your perfect will for my life that was written in my book before I was formed. I desire to do your will for my life. I repent for choosing paths that have taken me away from Your design for my life. I willingly lay my life down to my own wants and wishes where they conflict with yours. I take up my cross and follow hard after You, Lord, as I do this by Your grace, may I obtain a good testimony. I lay my life before You and ask for your Grace that empowers me to obey.
